VENDORS I WORK WITH:

1. MY BODY BEFORE ANYBODY

I don’t know if it’s because my mother died of cancer, or if I’m just a sucker for being better.

Regardless, I’ve worked on my self-care with more intention and for me this means: moving regularly (long walks, Zumba, yoga, dancing while jamming to music, etc.), scheduled massage therapy every two weeks without exception, starting each morning with something encouraging (i.e. audiobook, podcast, meditation, devotional app, etc.) and consuming more real, plant-based foods.

It takes work to prioritize your body over anybody else. I’m proud to say I’ve done this rather consistently.

2. MINDSET IS THE GREATEST ASSET

I’m sure we can all agree that education (be it formal/informal) is key. I invested in three online programs, completed all three, profited from one, and learned two skill sets from the others.
3. NEW WORK, NEW WORK, NEW WORK!

I left work that I hated (well, I loved the work and people, just hated the a-hole of a boss) and traded it for work I love. Never did I imagine that I’d make in two hours what I made in two weeks and have FUN while doing it. *pinch me*

Have as high standards with employers as you do lovers or any others.

4. HIT ME THIRTY ONE MORE TIME

I made it to 30, a new decade (always grateful for another breath) and celebrated it on the most beautiful beach with the most crystal clear blue water I’ve ever seen. Cozumel, I’m in love with you.

5. I DON’T GIVE A DAMN, THIS IS WHO I AM.

No filtering.
No explaining.
No apologizing for my voicing.

I’ve accepted flaws (i.e. being too sensitive/positive, cursing when necessary, challenging/questioning illogical beliefs even if said belief is in the name of God, being a good writer with poor grammar, etc.) that I’ve tried to change and see them as strengths.

6. LOVE DOESN’T CHANGE BUT THE HUMANS INVOLVED DO.

I’ve also accepted that the individuals that were a vessel of love to me throughout childhood, do not have to be the same in adulthood. Love—and I’m referring to the unconditional kind not the “I love [insert favorite material item]!” kind—does not change, but the people who love uses and works through do.

And that doesn’t mean it’s soul crushing, it can be quite liberating.

7. I HIRED A COACH

I hired a coach. And I’ve never felt more aligned with a leader. I love that I don’t want to be her, (no fan girl or hype here), she inspires, irritates, & challenges me to be more of myself and no one else.

8. HOUSEKEEPER FOR DUMMIES 101

I almost hired a housekeeper. Ugh. so close — you know anyone good? (I’m in South Texas).

9. I AM EXCELLENT IN MONEY.

My credit score went up over 278 points and it is now EXCELLENT. Yes, I’m proud. Yes, it took less than a year. And no, I still don’t have a credit card (yet).

10. BULLIES AREN’T ALLOWED HERE.

I’ve learned to be a lot kinder to myself. I was self-righteous in my teens, uber serious in my twenties, and more gracious as I enter my thirties.

11. I LIKE MY FAN CLUB.

I’ve never been popular. I’m not a cool kid. I’d much rather have dinner with a few than a banquet with hundreds. The women in my inner circle are of the best kind. I ask myself often, “how can I be a better friend?” because they deserve to be treated in the same way that they treat me, like gold.

Sigh.

Despite the rough patches, and pissed off seasons in 2016, there are so many incredibly good things that have happened. Too many to list…

If you’ve read this far, thank you, and leave a comment below with some of YOUR 2016 wins!

  • Wow! I want to do the thing with the money and the 2 hours! Congratulations on the financial win there! And also on taking great care of yourself! Lots of love and happiness to you in 2017 🙂

  • Thank you so much, Sarah!

As women, we don’t tend to notice the GOLDEN in our lives, and years, because we are so busy serving everybody and “on to the next”, then we feel like we’ve done nothing when in fact we have done so much! With that said, I’d love to hear about YOUR wins in 2016, reflect and write–it can be anything big or small, I want to celebrate with you!!!

And the money thing—improving your credit score and increasing your income— is SO possible and surprisingly a lot easier to “physically” do, I hate to sound like a cliche, but it has A LOT to do with mindset and your beliefs. Maybe I’ll do another blog or vlog on it?

Thank you for your continuous support and kind words! Many blessings to you in 2017! <3
